US singer-songwriter John Mellencamp joins a growing list of public personalities who have taken up the case of the Jena 6, a group of secondary students who face major charges after responding to an incident in which white students hung nooses from a playground tree.Mellencamp, who has written a song about the Jena, said: "This song is not written as an indictment of the people of Jena but, rather, as a condemnation of racism, a problem which I've reflected in many songs, a problem that still plagues our country today.""
