How amazing, and beautiful, to see Bao Shanju and
Zhong Tianshi proudly wearing Chairman Mao badges next to the Chinese flag on
their Olympic uniforms!
The two women won gold in a cycling event of Monday
at the Tokyo Olympics.
According to reports in the bourgeois press, the
International Olympic Committee is “looking into” a possible violation of its
rules governing political demonstrations after they were spotted wearing the badges.
The IOC has never defined
“political propaganda,” but it would appear that badges depicting Mao, a
communist revolutionary who is considered the founding father of the People’s
Republic of China, may be regarded as “propaganda” by the bourgeoisie.
The IOC was still looking into the demonstration
by U.S. shot putter Raven Saunders,
who raised her arms in an “X” during her medal ceremony as a gesture of unity
with “all people who are oppressed.” The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee,
has already said that Saunders was “respectful of her competitors and did not
violate our rules related to demonstration.” It remains unclear whether
Saunders will face punishment. But again, what an amazing and beautiful
gesture!
The two cyclists have been praised
on Chinese “red” websites.
“Why do two young athletes wear
Chairman Mao? Apparently because they love Chairman Mao and believe in Chairman
Mao. This is a very gratifying phenomenon, let us praise them! In recent years,
there has emerged wave after wave of Chairman Mao fever throughout the motherland,”
wrote a person on redchina.net . “They are the representative of China's
outstanding young people. Chairman Mao is returning, Mao Zedong Thought is
returning, and young people who believe in Chairman Mao are returning.
Others, including Jingganshan
Defender, commented that the young athletes’ gesture had embarrassed China’s bourgeois
authorities.
“Chinese
athletes love Chairman Mao from the bottom of their hearts,” wrote another. “The reactionary forces in Europe and the
United States have started stirring up trouble again by accusing the Chinese
cycling team of violating the Olympic Charter by wearing Chairman Mao badges.
“What
is even more outrageous is that a CCXV sports channel in China used the image
of the Olympic champion receiving the award and directly erased the Chairman
Mao's badge through Photoshop.
“All of
these images above have had their likenesses erased by Photoshop. This
behaviour is no different from that of a dog with a broken spine. Do we have to
do what the European and American powers accuse us of and do we have to do
their bidding to gain the pleasure of our enemies?
“On the contrary, these broken-backed dogs of our domestic sports
channel CCXV dare not even propagate our founding leaders and national heroes
in a proper manner. Such behaviour not only hurts the patriotic hearts of the
Chinese people, but also fuels the arrogance of the reactionary forces in
Europe and America,” he said.
